Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of Mrs. Sarah Anne King And Her Child, Half-Length, Seated, With Miniatures In Her Hair And On Her Necklace, A Seascape Beyond by John Downman was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2015. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,875.00 (€ 2,546.16) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Downman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Henry Frederick Bouverie And His Sister in January 2007 with an auction result of USD 96,000.00 (€ 73,857.52).
