This work of art by John E. Nicholls could be acquired at Christies in New York in May 2002 for an unexpectedly low price. In the PROPERTY FROM THE ESTATE OF DORIS MERRILL MAGOWAN auction, the work Lilies, Hollyhocks, Roses and other Flowers in a Glass Vase on a Stone Ledge; and Red and Yellow Roses, Peonies, Lilac and other Flowers in a Glass Vase on a Stone Column changed hands for USD 1,195.00 (€ 1,279.58) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 4,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John E. Nicholls - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Flower Piece, which sold at auction in November last year for USD 5,100.00 (€ 4,940.42).
