Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Miss Lockhart Alexander, Bust-Length, In A Sprigged Muslin Ruff by John Hoppner was sold in the British Pictures 1500-1850 auction at Christies in London in June 2005. The price achieved of GBP 12,000.00 (€ 17,784.76) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Admittedly, works by John Hoppner have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Henrietta Maria Vernon Atherton, 2nd Lady Lilford (d. 1820), of Atherton Hall, Leigh, with her two children in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 81,900.00 (€ 96,044.73).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait of Miss Lockhart Alexander, Bust-Length, In A Sprigged Muslin Ruff von John Hoppner wurde im Juni 2005 in der Auktion British Pictures 1500-1850 bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 12.000,00 (€ 17.784,76) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Hoppner auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Henrietta Maria Vernon Atherton, 2nd Lady Lilford (d. 1820), of Atherton Hall, Leigh, with her two children im Juli 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 81.900,00 (€ 96.044,73).
