In October 2007 Christies in London held the auction British & Continental Watercolours and Drawings, which included the work Le cavalier by John Leech. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 625.00 (€ 897.54), 56% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by John Leech have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Mr Briggs Taming A Colt Which He Has Bred Himself in November 2008 with an auction result of GBP 4,500.00 (€ 5,440.84).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 56 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion British & Continental Watercolours and Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Le cavalier von John Leech zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 625,00 (€ 897,54) und damit 56% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Leech auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Mr Briggs Taming A Colt Which He Has Bred Himself im November 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 4.500,00 (€ 5.440,84).
