Auction result misses estimated price range
In August this year a collector was able to acquire the work Holoku, c. 1940 by John Melville Kelly for USD 2,560.00 (€ 2,361.84). This price was achieved in the auction The Art of Hawaiʻi at Bonhams in Los Angeles and was even below the estimate range of USD 3,500.00 – 4,500.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Melville Kelly - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Kaonohi, c. 1920, which sold at auction in August this year for USD 5,760.00 (€ 5,314.14).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im August diesen Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Holoku, c. 1940 von John Melville Kelly für USD 2.560,00 (€ 2.361,84) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion The Art of Hawaiʻi bei Bonhams in Los Angeles erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 3.500,00 – 4.500,00. Für andere Arbeiten von John Melville Kelly mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Kaonohi, c. 1920 beobachtet, die im August diesen Jahres für USD 5.760,00 (€ 5.314,14) versteigert wurde.
