Auction result well in line with expectations
In August this year Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction The Art of Hawaiʻi, which included the work Lau Hala, c. 1934 by John Melville Kelly. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,200.00 – 1,800.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,216.00 (€ 1,121.87) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by John Melville Kelly have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Kaonohi, c. 1920 in August this year with an auction result of USD 5,760.00 (€ 5,314.14).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im August diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in Los Angeles die Auktion The Art of Hawaiʻi durch, in der auch die Arbeit Lau Hala, c. 1934 von John Melville Kelly zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.200,00 – 1.800,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 1.216,00 (€ 1.121,87) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Melville Kelly auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Kaonohi, c. 1920 im August diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 5.760,00 (€ 5.314,14).
