Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Labu by John Mosquito Tjapangarti was sold in the Aboriginal Art auction at Sothebys in Melbourne in July 2009. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 2,160.00 (€ 1,222.91) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Mosquito Tjapangarti - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Pundu, which sold at auction in July 2009 for AUD 7,800.00 (€ 4,416.06).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Labu von John Mosquito Tjapangarti wurde im Juli 2009 in der Auktion Aboriginal Art bei Sothebys in Melbourne versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von AUD 2.160,00 (€ 1.222,91) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von John Mosquito Tjapangarti mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Pundu beobachtet, die im Juli 2009 für AUD 7.800,00 (€ 4.416,06) versteigert wurde.
