In March 2020 Christies in London held the auction Australian Art - Online, which included the work Sydney - on cliffs by John Peter Russell. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 5,000.00 (€ 5,646.02), 67% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Peter Russell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Boys On The Beach, Belle-Ile in May 2007 with an auction result of AUD 1,800,000.00 (€ 1,106,786.59).

Im März 2020 führte Christies in London die Auktion Australian Art - Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sydney - on cliffs von John Peter Russell zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 5.000,00 (€ 5.646,02) und damit 67% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Peter Russell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Australian Boys On The Beach, Belle-Ile im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 1.800.000,00 (€ 1.106.786,59).
