Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by John Riley Wilmer could be acquired at Christies in London in September 2014 for an unexpectedly low price. In the The Neil Wilson Collection: A Romantic Vision auction, the work Madeline by moonlight: an illustration to Keat's 'Eve of St. Agnes' changed hands for GBP 500.00 (€ 642.22) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 700.00 – 900.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Riley Wilmer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Piccarda in July 2018 with an auction result of GBP 12,500.00 (€ 14,015.25).
