This artwork by John Samuel Watkins achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in Sidney in May last year. In the Important Australian Art auction, the work A Wet Night sold for AUD 3,444.00 (€ 3,209.39) - well above the upper estimate of AUD 1,200.00. Admittedly, works by John Samuel Watkins have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of the artist's wife in April 2003 with an auction result of AUD 29,375.00 (€ 14,979.34).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von John Samuel Watkins erzielte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in Sidney einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Important Australian Art wurde die Arbeit A Wet Night für AUD 3.444,00 (€ 3.209,39) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von AUD 1.200,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Samuel Watkins auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait of the artist's wife im April 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 29.375,00 (€ 14.979,34).
