The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,000.00 (€ 1,226.47), 43% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by John Sutton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Britannia, Westward, Lulworth and White Heather racing in Christchurch Bay with the Needles beyond, 1927 in February 2005 with an auction result of USD 7,200.00 (€ 5,424.14).

Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.000,00 (€ 1.226,47) und damit 43% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Sutton auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Britannia, Westward, Lulworth and White Heather racing in Christchurch Bay with the Needles beyond, 1927 im Februar 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 7.200,00 (€ 5.424,14).
