Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Looking Out To Sea by John Whorf was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in March 2009. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 7,500.00 (€ 5,655.68) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by John Whorf have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work On The Dunes in March 2007 with an auction result of USD 51,000.00 (€ 38,133.69).

Die Arbeit Looking Out To Sea von John Whorf kam im März 2009 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 7.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 7.500,00 (€ 5.655,68) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
