This artwork by John William Waterhouse achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in December 2015. In the Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art auction, the work Miranda sold for GBP 581,000.00 (€ 788,970.07) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 250,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John William Waterhouse achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work St Cecilia 'In a clear walled city on the sea, Near gilded organ pipes... ...slept St Cecily' in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 6,603,750.00 (€ 10,467,756.68).
