Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Jose de Chavez achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in October this year. In the Orientalist Art auction, the work The pipe smoker sold for GBP 3,840.00 (€ 4,409.39) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jose de Chavez - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Garrochistas: herding the cattle, which sold at auction in October 2008 for EUR 12,500.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Jose de Chavez erzielte im Oktober diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Orientalist Art wurde die Arbeit The pipe smoker für GBP 3.840,00 (€ 4.409,39) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.500,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Jose de Chavez mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Garrochistas: herding the cattle beobachtet, die im Oktober 2008 für EUR 12.500,00 versteigert wurde.
