Artwork auctioned at six times the upper estimate price
When the work Calligraphy in Cursive Script by Kang Youwei was auctioned at China Guardian in Hong Kong in October 2012, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 30,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than six times as high at HKD 184,000.00 (€ 18,317.64). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kang Youwei achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Calligraphy in May 2012 with an auction result of HKD 5,660,000.00 (€ 589,621.48).
Kunstwerk zum Sechsfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Calligraphy in Cursive Script von Kang Youwei im Oktober 2012 bei China Guardian in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 30.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 184.000,00 (€ 18.317,64) mehr als sechsmal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Kang Youwei erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Calligraphy im Mai 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 5.660.000,00 (€ 589.621,48).
