In June this year Bonhams held the auction Art Belge & Contemporain / Belgische & Hedendaagse Kunst, which included the work Sans titre by Karel Appel. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 28,160.00 41% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Karel Appel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Two birds and a Flower in December 2012 with an auction result of EUR 841,000.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um 41 % übertroffen
Im Juni diesen Jahres führte Bonhams die Auktion Art Belge & Contemporain / Belgische & Hedendaagse Kunst durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sans titre von Karel Appel zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 28.160,00 und damit 41% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Karel Appel erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Two birds and a Flower im Dezember 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 841.000,00.
