This artwork by Katsushika Hokusai achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in March 2021. In the Japanese and Korean Art auction, the work Bushu Tamagawa (The Tama “Jewel” River In Musashi Province) sold for USD 56,250.00 (€ 47,900.88) - well above the upper estimate of USD 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Katsushika Hokusai achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Kanagawa oki nami ura (Under the well of the Great Wave off Kanagawa) [“Great Wave”|AID1099960] in March this year with an auction result of USD 2,760,000.00 (€ 2,538,631.35).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 88 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Katsushika Hokusai erzielte im März 2021 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Japanese and Korean Art wurde die Arbeit Bushu Tamagawa (The Tama “Jewel” River In Musashi Province) für USD 56.250,00 (€ 47.900,88) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 30.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Katsushika Hokusai erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Kanagawa oki nami ura (Under the well of the Great Wave off Kanagawa) [“Great Wave”|AID1099960] im März diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.760.000,00 (€ 2.538.631,35).
