This artwork by Katsushika Hokusai achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in April 2015. In the An Inquiring Mind: American Collecting of Japanese and Korean Art auction, the work Koshu Kajikazawa (Kajikazawa in Kai province), from the series Fugaku sanjurokkei (The thirty-six views of Mount Fuji) sold for USD 16,250.00 (€ 14,558.32) - well above the upper estimate of USD 9,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Katsushika Hokusai achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Kanagawa oki nami ura (Under the well of the Great Wave off Kanagawa) [“Great Wave”|AID1099960] in March this year with an auction result of USD 2,760,000.00 (€ 2,538,631.35).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 81 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Katsushika Hokusai erzielte im April 2015 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion An Inquiring Mind: American Collecting of Japanese and Korean Art wurde die Arbeit Koshu Kajikazawa (Kajikazawa in Kai province), from the series Fugaku sanjurokkei (The thirty-six views of Mount Fuji) für USD 16.250,00 (€ 14.558,32) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 9.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Katsushika Hokusai erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Kanagawa oki nami ura (Under the well of the Great Wave off Kanagawa) [“Great Wave”|AID1099960] im März diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.760.000,00 (€ 2.538.631,35).
