Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work South Wind, Clear Weather (Gaifu kaisei), also known as Red Fuji by Katsushika Hokusai was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July last year. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 350,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 352,800.00 (€ 421,305.86). Admittedly, works by Katsushika Hokusai have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Kanagawa oki nami ura (Under the well of the Great Wave off Kanagawa) [“Great Wave”|AID1099960] in March this year with an auction result of USD 2,760,000.00 (€ 2,538,631.35).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit South Wind, Clear Weather (Gaifu kaisei), also known as Red Fuji von Katsushika Hokusai kam im Juli letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 350.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 352.800,00 (€ 421.305,86) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Katsushika Hokusai auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Kanagawa oki nami ura (Under the well of the Great Wave off Kanagawa) [“Great Wave”|AID1099960] im März diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.760.000,00 (€ 2.538.631,35).
