Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Katsushika Hokusai achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in September this year. In the Fine Japanese and Korean Art auction, the work Washū Yoshino Yoshitsune uma arai no taki (Yoshitsune's Horse-washing Falls at Yoshino in Yamato Province) sold for USD 7,040.00 (€ 6,651.55) - well above the upper estimate of USD 2,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Katsushika Hokusai achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Kanagawa oki nami ura (Under the well of the Great Wave off Kanagawa) [“Great Wave”|AID1099960] in March this year with an auction result of USD 2,760,000.00 (€ 2,538,631.35).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Kanagawa oki nami ura (Under the well of the Great Wave off Kanagawa) [“Great Wave”|AID1099960] im März diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.760.000,00 (€ 2.538.631,35).
