In September last year Bonhams in New York held the auction Japanese and Korean Art, which included the work A Woodblock Print Book by Kawanabe Kyosai. The »bidding war« ended at USD 6,375.00 (€ 6,516.41), 59% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kawanabe Kyosai achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hell Courtesan (Jigoku Dayu) in March 2010 with an auction result of USD 482,500.00 (€ 356,720.39).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 59 % übertroffen
Im September letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in New York die Auktion Japanese and Korean Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Woodblock Print Book von Kawanabe Kyosai zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 6.375,00 (€ 6.516,41) und damit 59% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Kawanabe Kyosai erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Hell Courtesan (Jigoku Dayu) im März 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 482.500,00 (€ 356.720,39).
