Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
When the work Snow at Heian shrine, Kyoto (Heian jingu no yuki Kyoto) by Kawase Hasui was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 1,500.00 but the actual price achieved was more than five times as high at GBP 7,560.00 (€ 9,017.49). Admittedly, works by Kawase Hasui have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Hiraizumi Konjikido (Konjiki Hall At Hiraizumi) in September 2021 with an auction result of USD 75,000.00 (€ 64,783.62).
Kunstwerk zum Fünffachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Snow at Heian shrine, Kyoto (Heian jingu no yuki Kyoto) von Kawase Hasui im Dezember 2021 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – GBP 1.500,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit GBP 7.560,00 (€ 9.017,49) mehr als fünfmal so hoch. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Kawase Hasui auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Hiraizumi Konjikido (Konjiki Hall At Hiraizumi) im September 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 75.000,00 (€ 64.783,62).
