Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Cherry blossom viewings by a river by Kitagawa Utamaro was auctioned at Christies in New York in September last year. Here, the upper estimate of USD 30,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 30,240.00 (€ 30,910.76). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kitagawa Utamaro achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work L'amour évident (Arawaruru koi), portrait en buste (okubi-e) d'une jeune femme s'arrangeant une épingle à cheveux sur fond micacé, de la série Anthologie de poèmes: la section de l'amour, (Kasen koi no bu in May 2018 with an auction result of EUR 381,000.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Cherry blossom viewings by a river von Kitagawa Utamaro kam im September letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 30.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 30.240,00 (€ 30.910,76) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Kitagawa Utamaro erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit L'amour évident (Arawaruru koi), portrait en buste (okubi-e) d'une jeune femme s'arrangeant une épingle à cheveux sur fond micacé, de la série Anthologie de poèmes: la section de l'amour, (Kasen koi no bu im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 381.000,00.
