Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2001 Christies in New York held the auction Indian and Southeast Asian art including 20th Century, which included the work Portrait of a Lady by Lalu Prasad Shaw. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 2,115.00 (€ 2,351.83) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Lalu Prasad Shaw have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Woman With Flower in May 2007 with an auction result of GBP 12,000.00 (€ 17,658.81).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2001 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Indian and Southeast Asian art including 20th Century durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a Lady von Lalu Prasad Shaw zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 2.115,00 (€ 2.351,83) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Lalu Prasad Shaw auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Woman With Flower im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 12.000,00 (€ 17.658,81).
