The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 3,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than five times as high at USD 16,380.00 (€ 13,978.49). This high result makes The Bookies the most expensive artwork by Lee Townsend that we have observed at auctions so far.
