In April 2002 Christies in New York held the auction Fine Nineteenth Century Art, which included the work A Captive Audience by Léon Girardet. The »bidding war« ended at USD 32,265.00 (€ 35,842.04), 61% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Léon Girardet; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Intérieur D'Une Maison Mauresque sold at auction in June 2010 with the realized price of EUR 68,694.00.

Im April 2002 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Fine Nineteenth Century Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Captive Audience von Léon Girardet zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 32.265,00 (€ 35.842,04) und damit 61% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Léon Girardet; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Intérieur D'Une Maison Mauresque im Juni 2010 mit dem Hammerpreis von EUR 68.694,00.
