Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Moon Turtle, 1978 by Leonard French was auctioned at Bonhams in March this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of AUD 600.00 – 900.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for AUD 135.30 (€ 83.43). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Leonard French achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian The Crossing in May 2007 with an auction result of AUD 156,000.00 (€ 95,921.50).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Moon Turtle, 1978 von Leonard French im März diesen Jahres bei Bonhams versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 600,00 – 900,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für AUD 135,30 (€ 83,43) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Leonard French erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Australian The Crossing im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 156.000,00 (€ 95.921,50).
