Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2008 Christies in New York held the auction Latin American Sale Day Session, which included the work Un pescado vestido de botella y una mula vestida de cocodrilo by Leonora Carrington. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 32,500.00 (€ 25,602.65) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Leonora Carrington achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Garden of Paracelsus in May last year with an auction result of USD 3,256,500.00 (€ 3,034,665.92).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2008 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Latin American Sale Day Session durch, in der auch die Arbeit Un pescado vestido de botella y una mula vestida de cocodrilo von Leonora Carrington zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 32.500,00 (€ 25.602,65) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Leonora Carrington erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Garden of Paracelsus im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.256.500,00 (€ 3.034.665,92).
