Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2005 Christies in London held the auction 22 ARLINGTON STREET, A WILLIAM KENT HOUSE, which included the work Admiral Rodney'S Flagship Formidable Firing A Starboard Broadside Into Enemy Ships At The Battle of The Saintes, 12Th April 1782 by William Elliott. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 43,200.00 (€ 63,776.76) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by William Elliott have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in April last year the work The Battle of the Saintes, 12th April 1782 was auctioned for GBP 60,780.00 (€ 72,478.00).
