It achieved a price of HKD 52,500.00 (€ 5,022.49), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 31%. Admittedly, works by Liu Mengkuan have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Majestic Landscape of Mount Huang in November 2018 with an auction result of HKD 325,000.00 (€ 36,681.97).

Die Arbeit Grasshopper on a Leaf von Liu Mengkuan kam im November 2011 bei Christies in Hong Kong zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von HKD 52.500,00 (€ 5.022,49) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 31%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Liu Mengkuan auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Majestic Landscape of Mount Huang im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 325.000,00 (€ 36.681,97).
