In July 2005 Christies in London held the auction IMPORTANT PORTRAIT MINIATURES AND OBJECTS OF VERTU, which included the work A Gentleman Formerly Called The Painter Alexandre Roslin, In Dark Blue-Grey Silk Coat, Red And Blue Embroidered White Silk Waistcoat And Lace Cravat, Powdered Hair En Queue by Lié Louis Périn-Salbreux. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,600.00 (€ 5,221.77), 20% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Lié Louis Périn-Salbreux have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A young lady in a landscape, facing right in white dress with blue sash, brown shawl draped around her shoulders, short curly dark hair; flowers and foliate background in November 2001 with an auction result of GBP 25,850.00 (€ 41,135.49).
