However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ludwig Bemelmans - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Illustration for 'Madeline and the Bad Hat' ("Pepito carried a bulging sack"), which sold at auction in March 2021 for USD 302,400.00 (€ 257,515.12).
