Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Refining Taste: Works Selected by Danny Katz, which included the work Selbstporträt Mit Mütze (Self-Portrait With Cap) - Recto Gefecht (Battle) – Verso by Ludwig Meidner. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 12,500.00 (€ 13,876.37) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ludwig Meidner achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Apokalyptische Landschaft (Apocalyptic Landscape) Junger Mann Mit Strohhut (Young Man With Straw Hat) - Reverse in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 14,072,800.00 (€ 12,428,508.35).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2020 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Refining Taste: Works Selected by Danny Katz durch, in der auch die Arbeit Selbstporträt Mit Mütze (Self-Portrait With Cap) - Recto Gefecht (Battle) – Verso von Ludwig Meidner zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 12.500,00 (€ 13.876,37) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ludwig Meidner erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Apokalyptische Landschaft (Apocalyptic Landscape) Junger Mann Mit Strohhut (Young Man With Straw Hat) - Reverse im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 14.072.800,00 (€ 12.428.508,35).
