Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Luigi Gandolfi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Vittorio Emanuele II, King of Sardinia and later King of Italy (1820-1878), standing with his left hand on the back of carved wooden chair and holding a white glove in his right hand, in black tail coat and trousers, maroon waistcoat and white stock, in April 2005 with an auction result of GBP 1,800.00 (€ 2,664.26)

Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Luigi Gandolfi erzielen.
