Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Virgin And Child With The Infant St. John The Baptist by Luis de Morales was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2015, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 150,000.00 – 200,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 137,000.00 (€ 186,039.41). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Luis de Morales achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Virgin And Child, Or La Virgén Del Sombrero in December 2010 with an auction result of GBP 1,609,250.00 (€ 1,866,725.15).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Virgin And Child With The Infant St. John The Baptist von Luis de Morales im Dezember 2015 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 150.000,00 – 200.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 137.000,00 (€ 186.039,41) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Luis de Morales erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Virgin And Child, Or La Virgén Del Sombrero im Dezember 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.609.250,00 (€ 1.866.725,15).
