This artwork by Luis Gerardo Sánchez Vázquez achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in October 2021. In the Boundless Space… The Possibilities of Burning Man auction, the work Madre de Dios (Mother is the Name of God) sold for USD 3,528.00 (€ 3,054.02) - well above the upper estimate of USD 2,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Luis Gerardo Sánchez Vázquez; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Dreaming About Fire sold at auction in October 2021 with the realized price of USD 6,930.00 (€ 5,998.96).
