Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Jardín De Los Reales Alcázares De Sevilla (Gardens Of The Alcazar, Seville) by Manuel García y Rodríguez was sold in the European Paintings including The Orientalist Sale, Symbolism and the Poetic Vision and Spanish Painting auction at Sothebys in London in November 2008. The price achieved of GBP 24,375.00 (€ 29,471.21) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Manuel García y Rodríguez - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work El Patio De La Villa (The Villa Garden), which sold at auction in November 2007 for GBP 60,500.00 (€ 84,715.65).
