Auction result well in line with expectations
The work La Souris écrit rat (À compte d'auteur) by Marcel Broodthaers was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in November last year. The price achieved of EUR 2,520.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Marcel Broodthaers achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Surface de moules (avec sac) (Surface of mussels (with bag)) in June 2012 with an auction result of GBP 433,250.00 (€ 536,466.65).
