Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Still Life by Marsden Hartley was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 150,000.00 – 250,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 175,000.00 (€ 154,552.68) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Marsden Hartley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pre-War Pageant in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 27,395,000.00 (€ 24,194,118.17).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Still Life von Marsden Hartley kam im November 2018 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 150.000,00 – 250.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 175.000,00 (€ 154.552,68) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Marsden Hartley erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Pre-War Pageant im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 27.395.000,00 (€ 24.194.118,17).
