This work of art by Matthias Stomer could be acquired at Christies in New York in January 2012 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master Paintings Part I auction, the work Saint Cecilia and the Angel changed hands for USD 146,500.00 (€ 112,234.74) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 150,000.00 – 250,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Matthias Stomer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Christ Disputing With The Doctors in January 2016 with an auction result of USD 2,650,000.00 (€ 2,446,454.95).
