In May 2012 Christies in London held the auction Old Masters & British Paintings, which included the work A watermelon, a pomegranate and figs, with grapes on a draped plinth, in a landscape by Maximilian Pfeiler. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 11,250.00 (€ 14,017.01), 41% above the upper estimate. Other works by Maximilian Pfeiler have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of EUR 26,000.00 in November 2008 for the work Natura morta di frutta con anguria, uva e fichi.

Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 11.250,00 (€ 14.017,01) und damit 41% über dem oberen Schätzpreis.
