This artwork by Mortimer Luddington Menpes achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2006. In the Exploration and Travel:AsiaIncluding China Trade Paintings auction, the work Kiyohime sold for GBP 19,200.00 (€ 28,106.55) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 7,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Mortimer Luddington Menpes; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Benares, Blue Is The Sky sold at auction in June 2011 with the realized price of GBP 30,000.00 (€ 33,189.42).
