In May 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction Master Paintings, which included the work The Murder Of The Magus Smerdis; The Coronation Of Darius: A Pair by Niccolò Giolfino. The price achieved of USD 100,800.00 (€ 82,663.61) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. Other works by Niccolò Giolfino have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in July 2010 the work Three scenes from the Life of Cato the Younger: Cato tries to kill himself with a dagger; The wounded Cato cured by the physician; and Cato's death was auctioned for GBP 79,250.00 (€ 95,289.20).
