Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of a young man, three-quarter length, in a brown coat with a purple wrap by Nicolaes Maes was auctioned at Bonhams in London in December this year. The price achieved of GBP 8,960.00 (€ 10,321.58) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nicolaes Maes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Group portrait of a family in an Italianate garden with an ornate fountain in December 2005 with an auction result of GBP 792,000.00 (€ 1,149,543.66).

Die Arbeit Portrait of a young man, three-quarter length, in a brown coat with a purple wrap von Nicolaes Maes kam im Dezember diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 8.960,00 (€ 10.321,58) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 7.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Nicolaes Maes erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Group portrait of a family in an Italianate garden with an ornate fountain im Dezember 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 792.000,00 (€ 1.149.543,66).
