This artwork by Nicolaes van Verendael achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in May 2003. In the Important Old Master Paintings auction, the work A swag of tulips, peonies, carnations, narcissi and other flowers with a butterfly in a stone niche sold for USD 50,190.00 (€ 42,656.81) - well above the upper estimate of USD 20,000.00. Admittedly, works by Nicolaes van Verendael have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Blumenstrauß mit Rosen, Tulpe, Hibiskus und Brombeeren in November 2018 with an auction result of EUR 362,500.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Nicolaes van Verendael erzielte im Mai 2003 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Important Old Master Paintings wurde die Arbeit A swag of tulips, peonies, carnations, narcissi and other flowers with a butterfly in a stone niche für USD 50.190,00 (€ 42.656,81) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 20.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Nicolaes van Verendael auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Blumenstrauß mit Rosen, Tulpe, Hibiskus und Brombeeren im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 362.500,00.
