This artwork by Oscar Edmund Berninghaus achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in May 2018. In the American Art Online auction, the work The Camp in the Canyon (Bevo) sold for USD 22,500.00 (€ 19,280.21) - well above the upper estimate of USD 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Oscar Edmund Berninghaus achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Ancient Forest of the Indians 25 x 30 in. framed 30 x 35 in. in November last year with an auction result of USD 542,175.00 (€ 525,210.69).
