Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Arabs at an oasis, with a village and the Pyramids beyond by Otto Tilche was auctioned at Christies in London in October 2006. The price achieved of GBP 456.00 (€ 681.30) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 400.00 – 600.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Otto Tilche - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An oasis before the Pyramids at Giza (illustrated); and A caravan before the Great Pyramid, which sold at auction in July 2007 for GBP 1,020.00 (€ 1,514.94).
