The »bidding war« ended at GBP 5,250.00 (€ 7,109.75), 31% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Paul Émile Lecomte - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sur La Plage, which sold at auction in January 2016 for GBP 18,750.00 (€ 24,552.25).
