Upper estimate price exceeded by 28 %.
In March this year Bonhams held the auction European Art | Bonhams Skinner, which included the work Tree Study: Six Views on a Single Sheet sight size 8 3/4 x 11 7/7 in. (22.3 x 30.2 cm) framed 11 1/2 x 14 5/8 x 7/8 in. by Paul Signac. The »bidding war« ended at USD 4,462.50 (€ 4,104.58), 28% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Paul Signac achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Concarneau, calme du matin (Opus no. 219, larghetto) in November last year with an auction result of USD 39,320,000.00 (€ 38,089,702.61).
