Auction result well in line with expectations
The work La partie de cartes by Pierre Carrier-Belleuse was sold in the 19th Century European & Orientalist Art auction at Christies in London in July 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 22,500.00 (€ 26,734.87) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Pierre Carrier-Belleuse have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Les Plaisirs de Paris' in June 2007 with an auction result of EUR 120,000.00.
